GAO Appoints Board of Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute

The Government Accountability Office announces the appointment of 19 members to the Board of Governors for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute. The health reform law established the PCORI as “a non-profit organization to assist patients, clinicians, purchasers, and policy-makers in making informed health decisions by carrying out research projects that provide quality, relevant evidence on how diseases, disorders, and other health conditions can effectively and appropriately be prevented, diagnosed, treated, monitored, and managed,” according to the release. Members will be appointed for a six-year term and can serve a maximum of two terms.
