Status Report from the National Prevention Council chaired by the Surgeon General outlining a strategy for the Council. According to the report, "The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act (known together as the Affordable Care Act) mandate the creation of the National Prevention, Health Promotion and Public Health Council (Council) and the development of the National Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy (Strategy)."
